WEBINAR June 10th, 2023 at 11am EST (USA): Introduction to Digital Accessibility with Desirée Nobre Salasar

APOYOnline- Association for Heritage Preservation of the Americas, is pleased to announce the upcoming webinarIntroduction to Digital Accessibility with Desirée Nobre Salasar” on Saturday, June 10TH, 2023 at 11am EST (USA). This webinar will provide an overview of issues related to accessibility, inclusive communication, and Universal Design in museums and cultural heritage. 

This webinar is free and will be conducted over Zoom in Portuguese with simultaneous interpretation into English and Spanish. The event is open to anyone interested in learning about improving accessibility practices. Advanced registration is required, sign up here.

Desirée Nobre Salasar is an award-winning expert in the field of accessibility in museums. She has a degree in Occupational Therapy and a Masters in Social Memory and Cultural Heritage from the Federal University of Pelotas. She is currently a PhD student in Museology at the Lusófona University and in Social Memory and Cultural Heritage at the Federal University of Pelotas.

Desirée is also a non-doctoral researcher at the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies in Education and Diversity (CeiED-Lusófona) and works as a consultant in accessibility and inclusive communication developing accessible institutional materials and management policies in cultural accessibility.

She is the author of several books and is an experienced teacher, presenting her work through lectures, training courses, and classes concerning audio description, inclusion, accessibility, inclusive communication, and Universal Design, among other topics. In addition, Desirée is an accomplished audio-descriptor and translator, having developed scripts for Brazilian and Portuguese museums, for multiformat books and for theater shows and translated Accessibility Guides.
