APOYOnline has wonderful news to share!
We are delighted to announce that APOYOnline – Association of Heritage Preservation of the Americas Inc., has received a two-year $100,000 grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to support capacity building and programming. We could not be happier to share this wonderful news with all of you.
Our work over the past thirty years has shown us how the preservation community has grown and come together in Latin America. The success of our recent conferences and workshops have stressed the importance of continuing to provide knowledge and networking opportunities to our colleagues. This Mellon grant will support capacity building, strategic planning, board development and training, and hiring part-time staff. In addition, it includes partial funding for programming we consider vital to fulfill our core mission, such as outreach, translation of technical publications into Spanish and Portuguese, and the implementation of a distance learning initiative that will greatly expand the reach of our activities, particularly for individuals in small or remote institutions. The grant will partially support the organization of the first-ever preservation of cultural heritage student regional conference in Latin America, of which we are very proud.
This grant is the recognition of the work we have done together with our partners, sponsors, volunteers, and the Latin American community. We cannot thank the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation enough for believing in APOYOnline’s mission. We are thrilled to be part of the Mellon grantee family and will continue strengthening the network in the Americas and in Portuguese and Spanish speaking countries.
